Where else if we are in Istanbul - Turkey
Few tourists visit the Fatih Mosque in Istanbul. Why? Because there are still many people who don't know the Fatih Mosque and access to the Fatih District is still complicated. We can only use public transportation such as public buses (otobüs) if we are not with a tour group.
The local name of the Fatih Mosque is Fatih Camii. Originally built in 1463 until 1470 when Fatih Sultan Mehmed was still alive.
But in 1766 there was a big earthquake in Turkey so the original Fatih Mosque building was destroyed. In 1771 the Fatih Mosque was rebuilt with a different design by Atik Sinan Architect.
Fatih Mosque name is taken from the Ottoman Sultan the Conqueror, Mehmed Sultan the conqueror. It is an example of a masterpiece of Ottoman-Islamic architecture in Istanbul and represents an important stage in the development of Classical Ottoman architecture.
The building of the Fatih Mosque is still standing firmly to this day even though it has been hit by earthquakes several times.
There is something unique that everyone will not realize. Inside the mosque, there are ostrich egg shells hanging with a chandelier. We can also find these uniqueness at the Sulaymaniyah mosque. Architects put ostrich egg shells not without reason. But it has an important role in keeping the mosque roof clean from spider webs.
You have to visit the Fatih Mosque occasionally, because the Fatih Mosque has several relics of the Prophet Muhammad such as the Prophet Muhammad's robe.
We are waiting for your arrival to make a pilgrimage to the Fatih mosque!
